In God

Sandhya Upadhyaya 1 week, 3 days ago

Lencho had unflinching faith in God and His mercy for His children. As a result he was hopeful that God would surely come to his rescue, when the hailstorm had had already destroyed all his crops and he had no way out but to beg God the exact amount needed for his sustenance. So,with absolute confidence,he wrote a letter to God asking him 100 pesos ,so that his family wouldn't die of hunger.

People say that the world will end in two ways 1.Fire 2.Ice The poet is supporting the people who prefer fire because he himself has experience of desire/fire. And if God can give second way to end this world then the 2 way will be ice because hate/ice is also that much effective like fire.

LENCHO worked day and night, tirelessly in his fields. He didn't care about what he would gain or lose, but devoted his entire strength on maintaining his fields and cultivating crops. The line 'Lencho was an ox of a man' symbolises his unending efforts to look after his family; he worked like an 'animal', not affected by any posing adversity. On the other hand, the line 'despite hardships, he knew how to write' depict that, though he was poor farmer, he was educated enough to read and write. It's of common perception that peasants are usually illiterate as they don't have enough opportunities or time to attain useful education. But LENCHO didn't belong to that perception. He was a hard working as well as an educated man, irrespective of his hardships as a poor farmer. Hope this will help you ❤️🙂
